Virginia Tech's recruiting run after their second official visit weekend of June continued with a big splash as four-star DB Marcellus Barnes Jr committed to the Hokies.
Barnes chose the Hokies over a loaded list of suitors including Florida State, Michigan State, Baylor, Ole Miss, Georgia, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and more.
He is the fourth commit from the Hokies' second June official visit weekend joining four-star LB Gabriel Williams, three-star DT Andrew Hanchuk, and three-star OT Aidan Lynch. He is Tech's third DB commit joining three-star CB Joshua Clarke and three-star S Quentin Reddish.
Barnes had this to say about why he chose the Hokies.
"There are many reasons, but the feeling I got from being on campus is unexplainable. On and off the field, I feel like I will be able to be successful," Barnes said.
This is another big time recruiting victory for the Hokies in East Tennessee with Barnes having a loaded list of active suitors having previously been planning to take official visits to Florida State and Baylor while also talking with Michigan State about an official among many others.
