Jones is a tough, physical forward with a versatile offensive skill set. Can score from the outside and is a tough finisher around the basket.

Jones chose the Hokies over fellow finalist Florida along with other top 8 schools Louisville, Miami, Xavier, Missouri, LSU, and Oklahoma State plus additional offers from Illinois, NC State, Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and more. The Gainesville, FL native is the second commit for the Hokies in the 2024 class joining fellow Floridian and three-star wing Tyler Johnson.
Based on the 247 Sports Composite ratings, Jones is the fourth highest-rated VT commit in the modern recruiting era and the highest in the Mike Young era at this time.
There's no denying the reality that this is a massive recruiting victory for the Hokies given the industry's view of his talent and the numerous big time offers he held. Tech hasn't landed many guys with this level of talent out of high school and when they have, they usually turn out to be really good players.
You could argue that this may be a bigger recruiting victory for Mike Young than Rodney Rice was, especially given that many may write that off to having Mike Jones on staff. With Jones now at Maryland, Young and his staff have delivered in a big way landing a top talent.
We will have more as this story develops.
