Virginia Tech has added some more wide receiver depth after landing a commitment from Jackson State WR Isaiah Spencer.
He is the seventh transfer portal addition this spring joining North Dakota State DT Kody Huisman, West Virginia OL Gavin Crawford, Hawaii CB Caleb Brown, Georgia Southern DT Elhadj Fall, Iowa State LS Drew Doyle, and Temple LB Antwone Santiago.
The 6'2'' product of Flora, Mississippi committed to Virginia Tech after spending two seasons at Jackson State where he played 25 games. He was their top wide receiver in 2024, where he tallied 660 yards and four touchdowns over 13 games. He also earned a 74.9 PFF grade this past season including a 76.4 receiving grade and an 82.8 catching grade after dropping only one pass last season. He offers lots of big play potential while also having lots of slot experience.
Spencer has two years of eligibility remaining.
His commitment comes after the Hokies hosted him on a visit late last week. That visit went quite well with the Hokies able to close the deal soon after.
Spencer will be able to come in and immediately make an impact on Tech's wide receiver room. It’s unclear whether he’ll end up being a starter or not, but he’ll be able to battle Keylen Adams and Cam Seldon for the third starting wide receiver role.
He is a solid prospect at 6'2'' and 185 pounds, and it will be interesting to see how he develops in the next couple years.
