We have reached the closing stretch of the 2025 high school football recruiting cycle with Early Signing Day in just over two weeks, about two weeks earlier than it had been since the Early Signing Day was instituted for football. Virginia Tech is busy trying to add a few more high school recruits before Signing Day and transfer portal season.
One target I do not have an update on at this time is three-star CB Jordan Crim but once I have more insights, expect that on this site. I also don’t have an update on JUCO CB Keshawn Davila at this time but am working to gather more information there.
So here are my thoughts and insights on where the Hokies stand with some of their top remaining targets.
Boise State 3* RB Commit Brendon Haygood
Three-star RB and Boise State commit Brendon Haygood out of Texas visited Blacksburg earlier this fall, with the Hokies’ coaching staff also visiting him after that.
However, it appears things have mutually cooled off between the Hokies and Haygood.
The Texan RB told me that he is actively considering Boise State, Texas Tech, Houston, and California. That would exclude Virginia Tech and Missouri with it appearing that it’s mutual on the VT front. He also said that he “hasn’t heard much from them” in recent weeks.
At this point, it seems most likely that VT looks to add 1-2 running backs via the transfer portal rather than bring in a second high school RB commit.
