Virginia Tech's 2025 Spring Game has come and gone with the Defense dominating the Offense for a 50-21 victory. This wasn't much of a surprise given the fact that the Hokies were without starting QB Kyron Drones and backup QB Pop Watson, both due to injury. There were some standout performances along with a few players who stood out in part for their performances and in part for where they fell on the depth chart.

It's always important to remember that this is only one of 15 spring data points, but it can provide some greater clarity given the timing of this at the end of spring practice.

So with that in mind, let's dive into my offensive takeaways from the Hokies' Spring Game.

Cameron Seldon Will Have a Significant Role This Fall

There was plenty of buzz about Tennessee transfer Cameron Seldon and his very successful transition from running back to wide receiver throughout the spring, but today's performance and the reps he received added more fuel to the fire.

Seldon led the way for the Hokies with three catches for 65 yards including a 57-yard touchdown from Ayden Greene on a trick play. With Keylen Adams out, Seldon consistently received first team reps in this game and appears to be among the top 4 wide receivers for Tech currently along with Ayden Greene, Donavon Greene, and Adams.

There's no denying the athletic talent that Seldon has had, but his ability to make this quick transition from running back to wide receiver and play at a high level has been very impressive.

Seldon looked very comfortable making plays over the top and on underneath patterns, an encouraging sign that he'll be ready to make a serious impact this fall. While Seldon himself said he has plenty of "little things" to improve upon, the foundation that he already has as a receiver is quite good given his limited time at that position.

Tech has had their fair share of former standout in-state recruits returning home as transfers and finding success including Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Kelvin Gilliam, and Kaleb Spencer. Seldon clearly seems bound to be next to join that group and could absolutely push both Adams and Donavon Greene this summer for a starting WR job in the fall.
