Virginia Tech has made some more noise in the transfer portal as Pittsburgh LB Jordan Bass has committed to the Hokies.

Bass is the 15th transfer addition for the Hokies including the fifth from Virginia originally, joining Clemson S Sherrod Covil Jr, Hampton DL Jahzari Priester, Tennessee RB/WR Cameron Seldon, and Eastern Michigan LB/DE James Djonkam. He has two years of eligibility plus a redshirt remaining after working as a backup linebacker for the Panthers the past two seasons.

During his time at Pittsburgh, Bass had 25 tackles including 5.5 for loss plus a sack. He earned a 67.4 overall grade from PFF this past season.

Bass chose the Hokies over lots of other Power 4 offers and interest including USC and NC State most notably.

Bass is a versatile linebacker who could end up playing any of the three spots. He should be able to at least break into the two-deep next season for the Hokies while pushing projected starters like Jaden Keller and Kaleb Spencer at the mike and star spots. His versatility could allow the Hokies to move Caleb Woodson to mike down the road as he gains more experience should they feel that may be their best linebacker setup.

Tech does have a redshirt that they can use on Bass as well if a big role isn't there for him next season, but don't be surprised if he plays well enough to avoid it similar to Spencer this year.

With Bass on board, the Hokies still may look to add another linebacker, but that is not a certainty at this point.

We will have more as this story develops.
