The six Hokies earning NFL Combine invites this year are RB Bhayshul Tuten, WRs Jaylin Lane and Da’Quan Felton, EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland, DT Aeneas Peebles, and CB Dorian Strong. Five of the six who earned invites are transfers, with Strong being the only player who signed with Virginia Tech out of high school to earn an invite.
This is the first time the Hokies have had six or more players earn invites to the NFL Combine since 2022 (WR Tre Turner, TE James Mitchell, OT Luke Tenuta, OL Lecitus Smith, EDGE Amare Baron, CB Jermaine Waller).
Four of these Hokies have a strong chance of at least being drafted on day 2 with a chance at day 1 in Bhayshul Tuten, Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Aneneas Peebles, and Dorian Strong. Meanwhile, both Jaylin Lane and Da’Quan Felton will look to solidify day 3 spots at worst during this event.
Tuten may have the most volatility of those on this list given the upside he’s shown and the deep running back class that he’s a part of. In most cycles, he would more solidly projected as a day 2 guy, yet this deep RB class makes it important to find moments to stand out, with the Combine providing a great chance for that.
