Virginia Tech's defense fought valiantly but tackling issues combined with the physical toll of a strange day and the Boilermakers having the ball for just over 38 minutes led to a 24-17 loss for the Hokies. There were some areas of growth and some concerns so with that said, here are my defensive takeaways.
The Hokies were outscored by 21 points and outgained by 140 yards in the second half on their way to a 28-16 loss to No. 16 Louisville.
