Three-Star ATH Joshua Clarke Recaps "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

Joshua Clarke Jan 2023 VT Visit

Among the notable visitors on campus for Junior Day this past Saturday was talented three-star ATH Joshua Clarke out of Alexandria, VA. He told us that he had a "great" visit to Blacksburg and had this to say about why that was the case.

"First was the coaching staff and the way that showed interest in me and talked scheme. I think they have a great coaching staff. Also, the campus tour and the support staff were great. And last, there is nothing like the atmosphere in Lane Stadium!!!" Clarke said.

So what did he do while on his visit?

"A lot. First we had an introduction of the coaching staff, a complete campus tour, and we got the history of the school. We had a position meeting with the DB coaches and talked scheme and defense. We also did a photoshoot, that was great. We also attended the Virginia Tech vs Syracuse basketball game. The atmosphere at the game was electric. It was a full day. My parents were with me, and they had a blast too," Clarke said.

One thing of note is that while Clarke is definitely a two-way talent, the Hokies are recruiting Clarke primarily as a defensive back currently.

Given that, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Clarke spent lots of time with head coach Brent Pry, defensive coordinator Chris Marve, safeties coach Pierson Prioleau, and CBs coach Derek Jones. This came after Pry and Prioleau visited Clarke at his Flint Hill School recently.

He had this to say about how his time and conversations with Pry went.

"It was great. He told me that they really like what I have been doing on and off the field," Clarke said. "He had a great conversation with my parents, too."

He also added this on how his conversations with Chris Marve and the rest of the assistants went as a whole.

"All conversation were great. They all pretty much said the same thing, that they like me a lot and were going to continue to recruit me hard," Clarke said.

When we asked him if there was anything unique about his visit, Clarke mentioned that he's been to VT a lot but that the Hokies impress him more and more each time.

"I've been to Virginia Tech about 5 times so far in the last year. So each time, I enjoy the entire experience more and more," Clarke said.

Looking ahead, Clarke told us that he is looking to take visits to Michigan State, Boston College, and Syracuse later this spring. However, given the priority that Clarke is for the Hokies and how much Tech continues to impress him, it's clear that the Hokies are in a great position while being ready to continue heavily recruiting him.
