Haynes becomes the second recruit out of the high school or prep ranks for the Hokies this cycle joining three-star PG Sean Pedulla and the fourth addition overall along with Wofford PG Storm Murphy and USF C Michael Durr.
As released by Virginia Tech, Haynes averaged 20.2 points and 10.6 rebounds for renowned Montverde Academy this past season while choosing the Hokies over Boston College, Mississippi State, UCF, and others.
Head coach Mike Young had this to say in the press release on the addition of Haynes.
"Jalen [Haynes] possesses the type of skill and size we are looking for in our program," Young said. "He reminds me of a lot of good players I have had the privilege of coaching in the past and we are excited to bring him to Virginia Tech. Jalen comes from a very good high school program and he has a great understanding of the game of basketball. We are excited for his future as a Hokie."
We will have more as this story develops.
