Virginia Tech is set to host FloWrestling's top overall wrestler in the 2024 class, Angelo Ferrari out of Texas, on an official visit this weekend per a source. Ferrari is set to arrive on campus Friday morning and stay for the entire weekend.
Ferrari previously released a top 5 that included Virginia Tech along with fellow wrestling powerhouse Iowa plus Iowa State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. He currently wrestles at 170 pounds and projects to wrestle at either 174 or 184 in college.
To state the obvious, this is a fantastic opportunity for Virginia Tech to make a big move in his recruitment. This weekend presents a great opportunity to show off the Hokie fan base with loads of fans in town for the Spring Game.
There's also clear opportunity for him to potentially come in and start as a freshman either as the direct replacement for Mekhi Lewis if he returns for one more year at 174 or at 184 where Sam Fisher has lots of potential but also where Ferrari could be an instant star.
