According to multiple reports, Virginia Tech redshirt freshman WR Elijah Bowick has entered the transfer portal.
#Hokies WR Elijah Bowick has entered the NCAA's transfer portal. Before entering portal, he had been (and is currently) suspended from the team, acc. to source w/ knowledge of program.

A redshirt fr. from Charlotte, he played in 5 games this season, but didn't have any catches.
What may be most notable is the fact that Bowick has been under suspension for the Hokies and is still under that suspension at this time, something that was not previously known publicly. Bowick did play in 5 games this season but did not have a reception during his time with Virginia Tech.
Bowick was a part of an impressive, four-man wide receiver class during the 2019 cycle that has had mixed results to date at Virginia Tech. Bowick becomes the second to transfer after Jacoby Pinckney left after the 2019 season and is now at Appalachian State. Meanwhile, Tayvion Robinson has become one of Virginia Tech's featured offensive playmakers while Jaden Payoute seemed poised for a breakout 2020 prior to suffering an injury during fall camp that has kept him out for the season to date.
Bowick's departure increases the importance for the Hokies to sign three wide receivers this cycle with the Hokies currently holding commitments from in-state standout Jaylen Jones and Texan speedster Da'Wain Lofton. His departure also opens up a scholarship which could be valuable for the 2022 cycle given the lack of NCAA relief that has been given to date for that class unlike the 2021 cycle.
We will have more on this story as it develops.
