Check out the latest Virginia Tech football recruiting notes as the 4-2 Hokies look to build on a win at Louisville with four out of their final 5 games at home to finish the regular season.
3* DT Tyler Onyedim
Mississippi State WR commit Brandon Buckhaulter wasn't the only committed player to receive an offer from the Hokies last week as Tech also offered Iowa State DT commit Tyler Onyedim.

Onyedim told us that he was "happy" to receive an offer via DL coach Darryl Tapp and recruiting assistant Beau Davidson because Virginia Tech is a "great school." He received the offer after practice and said that his conversation was "great" as a whole.
So where does Tech fall for the Iowa State commit? Onyedim told us that the Hokies are "really high on my radar right now" after Tech extending an offer which came after weeks of interest.
There's no doubt that this will be an uphill battle to flip a player from Texas, the heart of Big 12 country committed to a Big 12 program in Iowa State. However, the Hokies already have a pair of Texas commits for the second-straight cycle, and it isn't like Iowa State is that close to the state of Texas either.
2022 3* OL Ryan Nolan
Virginia Tech has made three-star 757 recruit Ryan Nolan one of their top 2022 offensive line targets with that already paying off for the Hokies.
Nolan told us that Tech and Clemson are the two schools currently standing out for him with Clemson having not offered him yet. Nolan said that the reason why Tech stands out is because "it's a talented team full of recruits from the 757."
The 757 star told us that he hears from the Hokies multiple times per week with DL coach Darryl Tapp, who went to the same high school as Nolan, and recruiting assistant Beau Davidson leading the charge. Nolan added that Tapp is someone who he feels he can speak with "comfortably" which is definitely a plus for the Hokies.
One plus for Tech is that they are a home state school which does seem to appeal to Nolan some as he told us.
"It gives me more options as far as living conditions and visiting family goes," Nolan said.
Nolan has taken notice of Virginia Tech's strong offensive line play so far this season telling us that they are doing a "great job" but also mentioned that he also has his eyes on the state of the depth chart as well in evaluating Tech.
Virginia Tech is off to a strong start with 757 offensive lineman Ryan Nolan who could be a foundation piece for trying to build a strong in-state class in a loaded 2022 cycle in Virginia.
