It's decision day for Jalen Stroman with Virginia Tech among the finalists for him. More on Stroman and other Virginia Tech football recruiting notes below.

3* DB Jalen Stroman

Decision day has arrived for three-star DB Jalen Stroman with the Hokies hoping the Stroman family becomes the next family to have multiple brothers play for Virginia Tech.

Entering this evening's announcement, Stroman is down to a trio of ACC schools in Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Duke. Stroman had this to say on why those three schools were the finalists in his recruitment.

  1. "I was able to visit each of those schools and feel the like any of them could be home for me.
  2. I like all 3’s coaching staff. All 3 are very different.
  3. They aren’t too far away from home," Stroman said.

The Hokies remain the on-paper favorites not only because VT has hosted him this year and built a strong relationship with him, but also because of the family connection with his older brother Greg who as we all know had a tremendous four-year career at VT as a cornerback and punt returner. However, UVA and Duke should not be ruled out with both having made strong impressions on Stroman.

Going into his decision, I'm predicting comfortably that he will end up choosing Virginia Tech, but recruiting can be full of surprises.

3* QB Tahj Bullock

Virginia Tech's QB board continues to be more defined with the Hokies sending out a new offer yesterday to three-star QB Tahj Bullock from New Jersey.

With Bullock now getting an offered, it's hard to not imagine him as one of VT's top QB targets especially given how Bullock received the offer during a Zoom call with himself, his family, Justin Fuente, and Brad Cornelsen.

Prior to the offer, assistant Zach Sparber, who has a large role in VT's recruiting in New Jersey, was primarily in contact with Bullock as the Hokies were evaluating him before VT decided to go all in with Fuente and Cornelsen taking leadership in VT's pursuit.

Bullock has built up a solid offer list so far that includes UCLA, Duke, Rutgers, Boston College, and others as Bullock has received interest from across the country. Rutgers, in particular, could be a challenge for the Hokies with Greg Schiano recruiting fairly well in-state since his return to Rutgers.

Keep an eye on Tahj Bullock as he emerges as one of VT's top QB targets especially with Justin Fuente and Brad Cornelsen taking a lead role in his recruitment.

3* LB Jalen Garner

Virginia Tech is continuing to keep their eyes on some unoffered linebackers including three-star LB Jalen Garner out of Georgia. Garner told us that he has been receiving some interest from DL coach Darryl Tapp recently and has had some "great" conversations with him.

Currently, the Hokies only have one linebacker commit from Will Johnson as they're likely to try to bring in three commits. Johnson profiles more at backer or whip while Garner projects more as an inside linebacker, something that VT needs to add to their 2021 class.

Garner has built up a solid offer list to date with offers from places like Iowa State, UCF, Memphis, and others. If the Hokies were to offer, it would be easy to envision the Hokies being able to quickly rise in his recruitment and become a top contender for the talented linebacker.

As VT looks to add a couple more linebackers to their 2021 class, Jalen Garner is a recruit worth monitoring to be a potential new offer in the near future.
