Virginia Tech has continued to extend new offers as they've used the dead period to evaluate more high school tape with this offer being extended to four-star LB Jaydon Hood out of South Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas.

Hood told us that he was "excited" to receive the offer during a phone call with LBs coach Tracy Claeys. That conversation went well as a whole as Hood told us.
"It was good. We talked about where I am in my process and how I canlearn more about what VT offers," Hood said.
The Hokies did show lots of interest in Hood about a year ago before that interest started to tail off. However, VT's interest surged recently leading up to the offer as Hood told us.
"They started talking to me last year a lot, but then there was nothing. Then, they started reaching back out to me this week," Hood said.
Overall, Hood told us that this offer puts the Hokies under "high consideration" in his recruitment. He had this to say about why the Hokies are under "high consideration" currently.
"VT has a good history of great players. They are a program that produces greatness and has maintained a tradition of winning. They also have a great history built of defense," Hood said.
Additionally, Hood told us that the Hokies are going to make his upcoming top 10 with that trim down of his offer list coming soon. To date, Hood has built up an impressive offer list that also includes Alabama, LSU, Penn State, Miami, Michigan, Florida State, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Minnesota, and many others.
The Hokies do have one linebacker commit in Will Johnson, but are likely looking to sign three this cycle with Hood almost certain to be a priority target especially as a potential mike linebacker candidate, something that VT needs to land this cycle.
Virginia Tech may not have been the first school to offer Jaydon Hood, but they have gotten involved and quickly emerged as a contender for Hood as they make him a priority target.
