He is the sixth transfer commit of this class joining Clemson S Sherrod Covil Jr, Bowling Green RB Terion Stewart, Central Missouri RB Marcellous Hawkins, Hampton DL Jahzari Priester, and East Carolina CB Isaiah Brown-Murray.
Flowers had 38 tackles including three for loss plus one forced fumble, two interceptions, and two pass breakups in ten games this past season. He also earned a 76.8 defense grade including an 84.1 pass coverage grade from PFF. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
With Flowers on board as the second safety transfer addition alongside Sherrod Covil Jr, the Hokies appear to be done at that position this portal cycle. If they do add another safety, that safety likely would be someone with a nickel background as well, though Flowers did take 155 snaps in the slot over the past two seasons per PFF.
Flowers immediately jumps into the starting safety competition with Covil, while rising sophomore Quentin Reddish seems likely to man the other spot though nothing his certain. The addition of Flowers also should give the Hokies more flexibility to redshirt talented incoming freshman Sheldon Robinson if he isn't ready, while still allowing Robinson to go earn playing time and avoid a redshirt if he's ready for a significant role.
