Virginia Tech is a "Real Contender" For Three-Star OL Layth Ghannam

Layth Ghannam VT Spring Game 2022

Virginia Tech hosted plenty of talented recruits over the weekend including one of their top OL targets, three-star recruit Layth Ghannam out of Charleston, West Virginia. Ghannam's visit went quite well as he told us.

"My visits to VT are always fun. I got to spend time with Coach (Joe) Rudolph and his family. I had time to meet with recruits, fans and even a few NFL players," Ghannam said.

Clearly, his time with OL coach Joe Rudolph stood out a lot for Ghannam who expanded on how his time was with Rudolph along with his relationship with him.

"This process lets meet so many special people. Coach Rudolph is one of them. He talks to me and my family about the recruiting journey, gives advice, and we talk football. I got to watch a baseball game with him and his family on Friday. Hanging with coach and his family was definitely a highlight," Ghannam said.

Ghannam also got to meet plenty of former Hokie standouts like the Fuller brothers and Jerod Evans while his dad got to meet Bruce Smith with Ghannam saying that his dad was "pretty happy" to meet him. However, Ghannam got to spend the most time with former VT offensive lineman and current Cleveland Browns standout Wyatt Teller and had this to say about how his time with Teller went.

"Really nice guy. He was really busy but made time for anyone that wanted to meet him or get a picture. He offered advice about recruiting. He told me to make sure I explore all the opportunities I can and he hoped VT would be the right fit for me," Ghannam said.

So while his time with Joe Rudolph and Wyatt Teller were both highlights for Ghannam, what else made it a fun visit for him?

"Getting a taste of the fans and seeing some football! I’m very fortunate that the coaches are always very active with me. They always treat me so well. I’ve been treated great by all the programs I’ve visited. I’m thankful," Ghannam said.

Ghannam only has Power 5 offers from Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and Wake Forest so far and he told us that he has plenty more schools involved, but that Tech is clearly a major player for him.

"All of my visits to VT are great. My recruiting is wide open and it’s starting to pick up. I have interest from several new programs: NC State, UNC, Baylor, Penn State, Louisville and South Carolina. VT is a real contender in my recruiting," Ghannam said.

Virginia Tech continues to be at the forefront of Layth Ghannam's recruitment with Joe Rudolph leading a strong charge to land one of their top offensive line targets.
