Virginia Tech got their 2027 class rolling today as the Hokies landed a commitment from three-star QB Ben Musser out of Bogart, GA.
Musser chose the Hokies over fellow finalists Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, and Purdue along with offers from Nebraska, UNLV, Appalachian State, Liberty, and others. He is the first commitment for the Hokies in the 2027 commit and the first QB to commit to VT since the hiring of offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery this spring.
Musser had this to say about why he chose Virginia Tech.
"The culture, tradition, and amazing coaching staff," Musser said. "Makes me feel at home."
His commitment comes after Musser took a summer visit to Blacksburg and came away clearly impressed with what he saw. The fact that VT has taken a commitment from a recruit this early in the 2027 cycle shows that Musser was clearly highly-regarded by new OC Philip Montgomery and the Hokies' staff.
With Musser on board, it'll be interesting to see if the Hokies end up taking a second quarterback in the 2027 class. The options are certainly there with a pair of talented 757 QBs on the radar in four-star Lonnie Andrews III and three-star Kevin Parker.
Meanwhile, the focus for the 2026 class remains on three-star QB Cole Bergeron out of Louisiana, who is looking at making a decision potentially as soon as this month.
