After a tough 13-19 season that exceeded very low expectations thanks to finishing tied for ninth in the ACC at 8-12, Virginia Tech has entered the offseason with a lot of work in the transfer portal ahead of them. There is optimism that Tech will have a stronger corps to retain thanks to reportedly improved NIL (and revenue sharing), after last offseason’s NIL offering led to mass departures and an almost impossible roster building job for Mike Young.
So far, the Hokies have seen four players enter the portal in Jaydon Young, Brandon Rechsteiner, Rodney Brown Jr, and Patrick Wessler. While all have shown some upside, there’s not going to be much sleep lost over those three guys not returning, with this giving Mike Young to get this roster more talented as he emphasized after the Hokies’ loss to California in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
So with that in mind, here’s a look at the current VT starting lineup based on the current roster for the 2025-26 season after the four portal departures and the top needs for the Hokies as of now.
Hi Tim,
Do you do a transfer portal like football? Who we are offering, specifically. I hope we get 1-2 REAL QUICK when the portal opens.
