Virginia Tech has been hosting their fair share of big time 2024 and 2025 targets this spring including 2025 four-star QB EJ Colson out of Byron, GA. His visit went quite well as he told us.
"It was amazing. My family and I had been wanting to get up there and when the opportunity presented itself, we didn’t hesitate! The way the coaches interact with the players was amazing. You can tell the players enjoy playing at VT and showing up everyday," Colson said.
Colson had this to say about what he did during his visit.
"I met the coaching staff, sat in the team and position meetings, interacted with the players, took a beautiful campus tour, got to see the amazing field and facilities, and took pics in the uniforms," Colson said.
Part of his experience in Blacksburg included getting to take in a team meeting. He had this to say about what it was like being in that meeting.
"The guys are early and locked in. They talk when they walk in there, but when that door closes and (head) coach (Brent) Pry walks in, you can hear a pin drop," Colson said.
He also got to spend some time in the QB position room and had this to say about what that experience was like.
"There's a lot of amazing personalities and people! They really welcomed me and with me knowing two of the guys from Georgia, it was an amazing feeling. There is so much talent in that room," Colson said.
He got to spend plenty of time with the coaches too including offensive coordinator/QBs coach Tyler Bowen and senior offensive analyst Brian Crist. He had this to say about his time and conversations with Bowen.
"It was amazing. He said they really enjoy watching me on film and can't wait until they can get down and see me this spring," Colson said.
He had this to say about his time and conversations with Crist.
"I spent most of the time with him and building the relationship. He’s an amazing person and I think he can teach me a lot. The guys really respect him and he respects them," Colson said.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"It opened my eyes. I saw that there was life after football with VT. So they are very much a team that is on my board, and I'm going to continue to build the relationships and take it from there," Colson said.
Virginia Tech impressed four-star QB EJ Colson on his visit and positioned themselves well early on with one of their top 2025 QB targets.
