Virginia Tech has had a few recruits visit on their own with their families during the COVID-19 dead period with Athens, TN OL Bryce Goodner becoming the latest this past weekend.

Goodner's visit went quite well as he described to us.

"It was great. Even though I didn't get to meet everyone in person, just getting to walk the campus and see the facilities was incredible. Then we walked around Blacksburg for a while and I loved it. It really reminds me of home," Goodner said.

There was plenty that stood out for Goodner on his visit from what Virginia Tech has to offer from an athletic side to Blacksburg leaving a strong impression as a whole.

"I think it was the facilities and Blacksburg itself. Everything at VT is getting remodeled and improved. There's gonna be a new dorm, a new cafeteria, and a new weight room by the time I'd be there. And then Blacksburg just felt like a true college town and I could really see myself liking it there," Goodner said.

Bryce Goodner also was able to chat with Virginia Tech offensive line coach Vance Vice before and after his visit to Blacksburg. Those conversations went well and also made Goodner feel confident that an offer may be close.

"They were great, I think he's happy that I felt at home there and I'd be surprised if I don't get an offer here soon," Goodner said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and view of Virginia Tech?

"I think it really sold VT for me. I feel confident now that when I get an offer, I can take it no problem," Goodner said.

Looking ahead, Goodner told us that he feels that an offer is really close with the Tennessee offensive lineman likely to meet with head coach Justin Fuente and the whole offensive staff soon.

"Real close, I just talked to Coach (Vance) Vice and he's gonna set up a zoom with the offensive staff and Coach (Justin) Fuente for me ASAP," Goodner said on how close he feels VT is to offering him.

It's clear that the Hokies and Bryce Goodner both have lots of mutual interest but the big question that's left is whether the Hokies will offer the talented Tennessee offensive lineman or not? That answer may end up coming by the end of the week.
