After decommitting from Virginia Tech in the aftermath of Brent Pry’s dismissal, four-star OT Thomas Wilder today recommitted to Virginia Tech.
Wilder is now the third commit to choose the Hokies today and the eighth new commit since the arrival of James Franklin. The other seven commits are along with four-star QB Troy Huhn, four-star RB Messiah Mickens, four-star TE Pierce Petersohn, three-star LB Mathieu Lamah, and three-star OL Roseby Lubintus, Marlen Bright, and Maddox Cochrane. Wilder is also the second addition who wasn’t previously committed to Penn State along with Cochrane.
Landing Wilder is a big recruiting victory for James Franklin, especially going down to the 757 and landing a player of Wilder’s caliber. It also reinforces how Franklin wants to build largely through the trenches, with Tech still hoping to land former Penn State commit and three-star IOL Benjamin Eziuka.
