Virginia Tech's transfer portal class grew today as the Hokies landed a commitment from NC State F/C Musa Sagnia.
The 6'10'' rising sophomore from Bakau, Gambia averaged 2.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game while shooting 59.6% from the field and 45.5% from the free-throw line this past season for the Wolfpack. He has three years of eligibility plus a redshirt remaining.
Sagnia is the sixth transfer addition for the Hokies this cycle, joining San Diego State starting C/F Miles Heide, Florida Atlantic starting G Isaiah Elohim, Oklahoma State G Jaylen Curry, Oklahoma F Kuol Atak, and Elon G Ned Hull.
Sagnia is an intriguing young player who was an efficient interior scorer and a solid defensive player. His skill set is similar to Miles Heide, with Heide likely being the favorite to earn the starting center job next season. While both players are limited offensively and not elite shot blockers, they both are solid rebounders and efficient interior scorers who should allow Amani Hansberry to operate at the four.
Sagnia's three years of eligibility are also intriguing combined with his power conference experience, making him a potential long-term building block for VT's frontcourt.
