Strack’s decision comes just a day after Georgia Amoore placed her name in the portal. Backup rising sophomore PG Samyha Suffren has also entered the transfer portal.
Strack is a 6'5'' freshman center, who averaged 4.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13.8 minutes per game, playing behind three-time ACC Player of the Year Elizabeth Kitley.
She has a promising mid-range game, and knows how to use her height to dominate opponents in the post on both ends of the court, finishing hooks on the offensive side and swatting shots away on the defensive end. Better yet, Strack seems to have more in the tank, as she was known to play point center during high zchool, and has shown shooting range that can stretch beyond the three-point arc.
Strack showed flashes of brilliance all season, but her talent really came to fruition after a Kitley torn ACL pushed Strack into the starting lineup for the Hokies' two NCAA Tournament games. In the two most important games of Strack’s young career to date, she scored 35 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and blocked six shots.
Strack’s dominance once inserted into the starting lineup gave the Hokie Faithful hope for a smooth transition from the Kitley and Amoore era, to a new era led by young players such as Clara Strack, Matilda Ekh, Carleigh Wenzel, and Carys Baker.
However, Strack will not be part of that corps going forward. She also has a "do not contact" tag in the portal which would indicate she likely knows what school she's headed to. Kentucky seems like the most likely landing spot given the presence of former VT head coach Kenny Brooks.
