The Hokies were busy in the transfer portal this offseason to replenish their DT room with four players including three with 2+ years of eligibility remaining. The Hokies also brought in multiple DTs this past recruiting cycle in Emmett Laws and Andrew Hanchuk, plus Gerard Johnson who could end up at DE or DT.
This could be a smaller class for the Hokies even with Aeneas Peebles and Josh Fuga entering their final seasons of college football while 2026 may prove to be a larger one. So with that said, here's the latest on the Hokies' defensive tackle recruiting.
2025: Rising In-State Standout Leads the Way
The 2025 class could be a small one for the Hokies given the larger DT class Tech brought in last cycle on the high school front plus the fact that 75% of their transfer DT additions have 2+ years of eligibility remaining. There are a couple names sticking out those as names to watch including one in-state standout on the rise.
That man is 6'3'', 280-pound DT Christian Evans out of Ashburn, VA who Rivals recently rated as a four-star recruit and ranked as the #4 best player in Virginia. On3 has him with a high three-star grade and a top 20 ranking in VA while 247 Sports and ESPN have not rated him yet.
Evans has four official visits coming up including a trip to Blacksburg next weekend (June 14-16).
