The Virginia Tech Hokies seem to finally be hitting their stride, taking the sixth ranked Miami Hurricanes to the wire, before going to Stanford and beating the Cardinal 31-7. Following their bye week, the Hokies are home touchdown favorites against Boston College in what is a must-win Thursday night game for Tech to keep their faint ACC Championship hopes alive.

With this game being on a Thursday, Brent Pry's press conference along with all other media availabilities were moved up to Monday this week. So with that in mind, here's a rundown of the highlights from what Pry and others had to share.

Layth Ghannamā€™s Imminent Return

Virginia Tech has been hit hard by the injury bug, but the Hokie faithful have received some good news regarding their young offensive lineman, Layth Ghannam, who has missed the Hokies last three games.

"Layth is on his way back,ā€ Brent Pry remarked. ā€œ(He was) in full pads yesterday...he looked good.ā€

Ghannam worked his way into the starting unit due to his elite quickness and athleticism, which is almost unheard of at his size of 6 '5, 302 pounds. Early in the season, he struggled some with Bob Schick eventually taking Ghannam's starting job after splitting reps with the redshirt freshman for a couple of games.

While Schick has been the starter since Ghannam's injury, redshirt sophomore Brody Meadows has also worked his way up the depth chart and is starting to push Schick for the starting left guard job. With Meadows on the rise, Ghannam will have his work cut out if he wants to break back into the rotation, though the opportunity for him to do so will likely be there given Tech's offensive line struggles.

Regardless of playing time, it is encouraging to see Ghannam is closer to full health, especially for a unit that still doesn't have a whole lot of playable depth.
