After Virginia Tech announced that Brent Pry was making staff changes and letting go of DC Chris Marve, OL coach Ron Crook, and S&C coach Dwight Galt IV, the Hokies' head coach went before the media and addressed questions regarding those decisions.
Brent Pry shared that these decisions have been building for several weeks prior to his decision a couple days ago after meeting with Whit Babcock to go forward with these changes.
"This has been several weeks. Unhappy with some things through midpoint of the season. You're evaluating all the time. It didn't start the way we needed to. There were some points in the middle, some things were concerning, and down the stretch. There's a lot of positives, but there were things that to me, when I looked at it, they just weren't up to the standards of expectations that I have for this program. It's my responsibility to push the envelope and make sure they're met. I've had multiple meetings with Whit Babcock. Those decisions were ultimately decided here in the past couple days," Pry said.
Let's start with the headline of Pry letting go of Chris Marve, the defensive coordinator who he hand-picked to mentor into his DC. After three seasons in that role, Pry decided to go a different direction and shared the following insight on why he chose to make that decision.
