With Emmett Laws on board, Virginia Tech likely only has room for 1-2 more defensive tackles in their 2024 class. The good news is that the Hokies are in a very good spot for one of their remaining DT targets, Andrew Hanchuk out of Cleveland, Ohio.
Hanchuk told us that Virginia Tech is "definitely standing out" for him and "probably" his current leader as well.
He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently leading for him.
"Coach (J.C.) Price and the other coaches really seem bought into me! Coach Price came back into the school (Monday) for the second time in the past 3 weeks to talk and see how I have been doing. He also cares about me as a person, not just a football player," Hanchuk said.
Hanchuk added that Virginia Tech is the school recruiting him the hardest at the moment with DL coach J.C. Price leading the charge for VT. He had this to say about his relationship with Price.
"I think we have a real good relationship! I love talking to him and we don’t just talk about football, we talk about all kinds of different things," Hanchuk said.
Looking ahead, Hanchuk has an official visit scheduled to Virginia Tech for the second weekend of June while he is also looking at visiting Wisconsin soon. Beyond that, he plans to make a decision before the first game of his senior season.
So what will be the key factors for Hanchuk in making his decision?
"Really making sure it feels like home and that I can call it home for 3-5 years," Hanchuk said.
The Hokies are in a great spot for three-star DT Andrew Hanchuk with a big opportunity looming to impress him further in just a couple weeks.
