Four-star SG Jaeden Mustaf out of Bowie, Maryland released his top 5 with Virginia Tech making the cut for one of their top overall 2024 targets.
The Hokies were joined by Florida State, Indiana, Miami, and NC State in his top 5. There were loads of notable schools who missed the cut for him including Virginia, Maryland, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Rutgers, Georgia, and more.
Mustaf has taken multiple visits to Virginia Tech and is probably Tech's top overall target regardless of position as a top 50 consensus recruit in the country. He would definitely have the opportunity to come in and immediately compete for significant playing time especially given how Tech loves to go with 3 guards and given that Hunter Cattoor only has 1 year left should he return to VT.
Given his top 5, the Hokies do have a proximity to home advantage among these 5 though that doesn't seem to be the biggest priority for him. Tech does have serious traction here though having hosted him on multiple visits with Mustaf making this cut not being a surprise.
Mustaf would be one of the highest-rated recruits all-time for the Hokies if they are able to land him ranking 3rd all-time based on his 247 Sports Composite ranking with only Dorian Finney-Smith and Nickeil Alexander-Walker ranking higher than Mustaf.
