The Virginia Tech Women's Basketball program has put together some strong recruiting classes in recent years, but Megan Duffy has put the Hokies in position to potentially put together their strongest class ever.

One of the standout recruits who the Hokies are in the hunt for is 6'2'' four-star forward Ciara Byars out of Winchester, KY who included Virginia Tech in her top 7.

The Hokies were joined by Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Vanderbilt, California, and Mississippi State in the top 7 for Byars, who is ranked as the 44th best recruit in the 2025 class by ESPN. Among the notable offers not to make the cut for Byars were Kentucky, Michigan State, West Virginia, Penn State, Miami, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Marquette, UCF, Cincinnati, Memphis, DePaul, and more.

Tech already has a pair of strong commitments from top 100 talents this recruiting class in four-star F Amani Jenkins (ESPN #82) out of Iowa and four-star PG Kate Sears (ESPN #85) out of North Carolina. The Hokies are also in the hunt for other elite recruits including five-star G Divine Bourrage (ESPN #5) who included Tech in her top 6 and will be taking an official visit to Virginia Tech this fall.

At #44 in the ESPN rankings, Byars has the potential to be the highest-ranked recruit to choose Virginia Tech since Elizabeth Kitley, though four-star SG Lexi Blue was on pace to do that before she chose to flip her commitment to Kentucky following Kenny Brooks' departure for the Wildcats. Of course, Byars may not end up being the highest-ranked recruit in this class for Tech given the other recruits that Tech is involved with.

If the Hokies were to land Byars, you would think that Tech's focus would shift to adding more high school talent to the backcourt and at center with Byars and Jenkins being potentially one of the best forward duos in this class should Byars choose VT.
