Virginia Tech Offers 2023 DE Semaj Turner

Houshun Gaines Entrance 1

2023 DE Semaj Turner out of Reagan HS in Pfafftown, NC has seen his recruitment take off in recent days receiving lots of new offers including one from Virginia Tech.

The Hokies were the first Power 5 team to offer Turner with Duke, Louisville, and North Carolina also offering him from the Power 5 level plus East Carolina, Appalachian State, and Campbell with all these offers coming just this week. Turner also has previous offers from Liberty and Buffalo.

None of this should come as a surprise given how Turner was the Defensive Player of the Year of his conference with 83 tackles including 26 for loss with 17.5 sacks as a junior. His 17.5 sacks were also a school record with the chance to break that next year.

So what was Turner's reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer?

"VT offering me was and has been huge for me. All I can think about is just how blessed I feel. First ACC offer and the conversation between Coach (Brent) Pry along with getting the chance to talk to Coach (Stu) Holt and Coach (Joe) Rudolph through this process has all meant a lot to me," Turner said.

"A coaching staff truly dedicated to coaching their guys and building a bond along with making their guys better. Everything felt so genuine."

As you can tell, Turner's conversation with Brent Pry at his school where Pry offered Turner went extremely well with Turner adding this about Pry's message for him.

"His message mainly was that he loves me game and my film, but the deciding factor was my personality," Turner said.

Turner has taken visits previously to N.C. State, Duke, Appalachian State, and Liberty with a few more visits planned for the next couple months.

"This Saturday I will be at UVA, then Sunday I will be at Duke, March 2nd Louisville, then Virginia Tech mostly shortly after that," Turner said.

Turner also added that he does not have a specific date for a Virginia Tech visit just yet.

Semaj Turner is one of the fastest rising recruits in the state of North Carolina with the Hokies being the first to jump in after Brent Pry went to Pfafftown, NC to offer the talented pass rusher.
