Virginia Tech, Penn State Currently Favorites for 2024 Three-Star WR Lamar Booker Jr

Lamar Booker Jr 2022 VT Visit

Three-star WR Lamar Booker Jr out of Richmond's Varina HS is one of the top in-state offensive players in the 2024 class with the Hokies off to a strong start in his recruitment as he shared with us.

"VT and PSU are my 2 favorites currently," Booker said.

Booker had this to say about why the Hokies are one of his 2 favorites currently.

"The coaching staff is just so fun to be around and every time I go up there, it feels like home," Booker said.

Part of what has likely helped Tech in Booker's recruitment early on is the fact that the Varina HS standout has already taken at least 3 visits to Blacksburg. Booker did tell us that he was planning to visit Virginia Tech prior to the cancellation of the VT-UVA game so it's unknown if he'll visit Blacksburg still, take a visit elsewhere, or not take a visit at all.

Booker also said that Virginia Tech is currently recruiting him the hardest with the Hokies in contact with him multiple times per week. WRs coach Fontel Mines is leading the charge for the Hokies in their pursuit of Booker with the three-star WR having this to say about his relationship with Mines.

"We have a really good relationship," Booker said. "He’s just a really cool coach, he’s always smiling, and he makes me feel like a priority," Booker said.

Tech's heavy pursuit also speaks a lot to the talent that they've seen in Booker even as he's missed some time this season due to injury. Combine that with an offer list that also includes Penn State, Duke, UVA, and Old Dominion; and it's clear that Booker is a legit talent.

So how would Booker describe the strengths and weaknesses of your game?

"I’d say I’m a big, strong possession receiver who is also really fast and can spread the field, but one of my weaknesses is just finishing through contact at the point of the catch," Booker said.

Virginia Tech has put together an impressive 2023 class in the Richmond area with the Hokies hoping Lamar Booker Jr is part of another strong Richmond class in the 2024 cycle.
