Virginia Tech Showing Interest in Three-Star DB Virgil Marshall

VT Fans 2

Virginia Tech is looking at adding 1 or 2 more high school recruits to their 2022 class with standout DB Virgil Marshall from Florida emerging as one of the targets under greatest consideration.

Marshall, a three-star DB currently committed to Toledo, told us that he has been receiving interest from Virginia Tech recently with RBs coach Stu Holt, who recruited Marshall some at Louisville, and defensive assistant Shawn Quinn leading the charge for the Hokies.

He had this to say about his relationship with Stu Holt which dates back to Holt's time recruiting Marshall at Louisville.

"It’s really good, me and him have been talking since he was at Louisville," Marshall said.

He also had this to say about his growing relationship with Shawn Quinn that almost feels familial in some ways.

"Coach Quinn just checks on me sort of like an uncle. He always ask am I doing good and our first conversation was amazing," Marshall said.

Shawn Quinn's involvement shouldn't be too big of a surprise given that Marshall told us that the Hokies are evaluating him as a safety or nickelback which would fit into Quinn's position group. Cornerback is also a possibility for Marshall if he ends up at VT as well.

In addition to the Hokies and Toledo, there are a few other schools actively involved currently in Marshall's recruitment including Western Kentucky, FIU, and Middle Tennessee with the Hokies and FIU being the only schools that haven't offered him yet.

Marshall is planning to visit Virginia Tech next week and Western Kentucky the week after while he is also looking to set up a visit to FIU. Though the Hokies haven't offered him yet, Marshall feels Tech is very close and that his visit next week may push them over the top to offer him.

"Like right on the tip of my tongue, just need to see me in person which is next week," Marshall said.

Keep an eye on Virgil Marshall as the Hokies consider offering the talented Floridian defensive back.
