Virginia Tech "Stands Out A Lot" for 757 WR/DB Paul Billups Jr After Visit

Paul Billups 1 Jan 15 2022 Junior Day

The first Junior Day of the Brent Pry era at Virginia Tech was full of talented players from the Hokies' recruiting footprint and especially the Commonwealth of Virginia. Among the headline visitors was talented 757 WR/DB Paul Billups Jr, one of the best players in the 2023 class from Virginia, and the top-ranked 757 recruit in the 2023 class currently for Rivals.

Tech's new staff made a strong impression on Billups during his Junior Day visit as he shared with us.

"It was great. I loved every part of it," Billups said.

Billups told us that his visit started with the whole coaching staff introducing themselves to Billups and the other recruits there. His visit also included a school tour, a photo shoot, and dinner with the coaching staff and with current Hokies' players.

Billups also shared what stood out to him the most about his visit which centered around the coaching staff and their vision for bringing Virginia Tech back up the CFB ladder.

"The coaches and how they were just together and ready to put the program back on the map," Billups said.

He also added that one of the unique things about his visit was "how organized and set up the campus was."

Prior to his visit to Blacksburg, Billups had been in contact a lot with defensive assistant Shawn Quinn with Billups telling us that him and Quinn had been starting to "build a bond."

So how did this visit impact Paul Billups Jr's recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"Tech stands out a lot amongst all the offers I have," Billups said.

Billups added this about why Virginia Tech "stands out a lot" for him after his visit.

"Just the way everyone is there. They were just nice and loving people to be around," Billups said.

Looking ahead, Billups told us that he will be visiting Oklahoma on January 29th as his recruitment will have loads of big time suitors beyond just the Hokies.

However, what's clear is that Virginia Tech has put themselves in a strong position early on with one of the top players in Virginia for the 2023 class, WR/DB Paul Billups Jr.
