Virginia Tech’s frontcourt will be getting an overhaul this offseason as both freshman bigs Ramiya White and Myah Hazelton are entering the transfer portal.
Neither White nor Hazelton were able to break into Tech’s rotation this past season despite very limited frontcourt depth. White averaged 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per game over the course of 15 appearances while Hazelton averaged 0.8 points and 0.4 rebounds in 4.4 minutes per game over the course of eight appearances.
The departures of Hazelton and White leaves the Hokies with nine current players for next season and six open spots to fill on the roster. There’s no doubt that VT will need to add 2-3 frontcourt players via the portal including a starting center, though neither White or Hazelton were likely ready for that role next season.
We will have more as this story develops.
