Virginia Tech picked up another commitment from another talented edge rusher in Curtis Jones Jr.

The transfer from West Virginia is the seventh defensive line transfer commit and fourth true edge rusher after Kamauryn Morgan decommitted from Virginia Tech. He joins DL Daniel Jennings (who has the size to play DE or DT), Ohio State DT Eric Mensah, Penn State DT Randy Adirika, Missouri DE Javion Hilson, and Penn State DEs Cortez Harris and Mylachi Williams.

Jones Jr. was a three-star prospect from the class of 2024 from Ona, West Virginia. He chose the Mountaineers over Marshall, Toledo, and Eastern Kentucky.

The 6’4”, 226-pound athlete played both sides of the ball at West Virginia. During his freshman season, he played in 11 games on special teams. In Jones’ sophomore year he recorded 22 tackles including three for loss with a sack plus forced fumble. He happened to also be used as a short-yardage ball carrier with 11 carries for 24 yards and three touchdowns.

Curtis Jones Jr. will have two years of eligibility remaining plus a redshirt available.
