The eyes of college football realignment have turned to the ACC as the conference considers potential expansion candidates in Stanford, California, and SMU. That's a crazy sentence that I would not have imagined writing even weeks alone let alone two years ago though I also wouldn't have imagined Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC, USC & UCLA joining the Big 10, and then the Pac-12 collapsing with Oregon & Washington going to the Big 10 and the Four Corners schools going to the Big 12.
Now the focus is on the ACC and while expansion doesn't seem likely at least from those three schools, it's something that shouldn't be dismissed lightly as a possibility whether you agree with it or not.
So let's dive into some of my thoughts on Virginia Tech and ACC expansion including what I've been hearing and learning about the complexities of all this especially from VT's perspective.
