Virginia Tech’s staff shuffling is continuing as Zach Barnett of Football Scoop is reporting that VT Director of High School Relations Gunter Brewer is leaving the Hokies to become the TEs coach at Marshall.
Marshall is expected to hire Rod Smith as offensive coordinator/QBs and Gunter Brewer as TEs coach, sources tell @FootballScoop.https://t.co/wkaDmEhbLi

Brewer arrived in Blacksburg last spring after previously being the WRs coach at Maryland. He has extensive recruiting ties throughout the Carolinas which proved valuable for the Hokies with multiple recruits including four-star WR Shamarius Peterkin.
Brewer’s departure does create an opening that the Hokies will look to fill in various ways. However, they can be flexible with how they choose to replace Brewer given that they have another Director of High School Relations in James Johnson and Cam Phillips has been the Hokies’ assistant WRs coach with Gunter Brewer having also been a senior offensive analyst with a primarily WRs background.
We will have more as this story develops.
