Virginia Tech Among Those Standing Out For 2024 Four-Star CB Asaad Brown Jr

VT Fans 1

If you know high school football in Virginia, you know that the 757's Oscar Smith HS has been one of the best HS football programs of the 21st Century across the Commonwealth of Virginia producing loads of FBS college football talent.

Among Oscar Smith's next FBS college football players is 2024 four-star CB Asaad Brown Jr who has received an impressive 35 offers according to 247 Sports. That includes the likes of Virginia Tech, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, Texas A&M, Penn State, LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, South Carolina, Michigan State, N.C. State, North Carolina, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, and many more.

All of this interest shouldn't come as a surprise as Brown was dominant last season telling us that he had "0 touchdowns allowed, 2 interceptions, and 1 catch allowed." He also had this to say on the strengths and weaknesses of his game.

Unsurprisingly, Brown already looks like he will rightly be one of Virginia Tech's top overall priorities in the 2024 class with the Hokies off to a good start in his recruitment.

When we asked Brown about which schools were standing out in his recruitment, he had this to say.

"I have a few that are making a strong presence at the moment," Brown said. "LSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, N.C. State, Grambling, and UNC."

Part of the credit for that should go to VT Director of High School Relations and former great 757 head coach Glenwood Ferebee who has been playing a big role in the recruitment of Brown with the Oscar Smith adding this on his relationship with Ferebee.

"757 legend. He definitely is trying to keep local talent in state," Brown said.

He also had this to say about why the Hokies are standing out in his recruitment while mentioning his deep interest in visiting Blacksburg soon.

"I have a good relationship with a few members from the staff. I’ve been trying to visit lately but the timing has been bad," Brown said.

Brown added that he's also trying to visit LSU and South Carolina in addition to Virginia Tech "before the summer is out." He also said that he is specifically targeting a visit to Blacksburg next weekend right before the end of the June recruiting window.

When Brown does visit Virginia Tech, it'll be his first time with the new staff. Though he isn't 100% sure exactly what he is hoping to see on his upcoming visit, he does know some of what he's hoping to see as he shared with us when asked about that.

"Not for sure. The last staff was divided so I hope this staff really wants to make Virginia a pipeline for Virginia talent," Brown said.

Early signs are that Brown will see that Brent Pry and his staff are making in-state recruits as big of a priority as they've been at Virginia Tech since the Frank Beamer era.

Virginia Tech is off to a strong start for one of their top 2024 targets in four-star CB Asaad Brown Jr out of 757 powerhouse Oscar Smith with the Hokies having a great chance to continue their strong, early start in his recruitment next weekend.
