Megan Duffy’s first Virginia Tech team continues to come together as the Hokies have landed a commitment from center Ramiya White, a former Kentucky signee who opened up her recruitment after the Wildcats made their coaching change.

The 6’5’’ White becomes the fourth member of the Hokies’ high school recruiting class along with four-star F/wing Kayl Peterson, PF/C Myah Hazelton, and PG Leila Wells. This puts the Hokies at 11 players for next season with four open scholarships remaining.
After losing Clara Strack via the transfer portal and then Clara Silva flipping her commitment to Kentucky, the Hokies were in need of frontcourt depth behind Rose Micheal’s. Though Myah Hazelton seems like a potential 5 as well at 6’4’’, Hazelton has been projected more as a 4 and could be dangerous at that spot given her size.
Adding White gives the Hokies another true 5 who can provide further frontcourt depth next season. Additionally, she now is an important of the future for the Hokies in the frontcourt with her and Hazelton potentially being Tech’s starting duo for years to come possibly beginning after this season.
With White on board, it seems reasonable to believe that the Hokies are done on the high school front for this recruiting cycle with the focus shifting solely to the transfer portal as Megan Duffy continues building her first VT team.
