Artis is the seventh scholarship Hokie to enter the transfer portal this offseason joining the following players.
- CB DJ Harvey (11/28)
- DE Mattheus Carroll (12/2)
- DT Desmond Mamudi (12/4)
- CB Armani Chatman (12/5)
- DE Lakeem Rudolph (12/5)
- WR Kaleb Smith (12/5)
- LB Keshon Artis (12/5)
He will have one of year of eligibility thanks to his free COVID year.
Artis was a very intriguing prospect coming out of the 757 but was always stuck as the backup mike LB behind Dax Hollifield. This year saw younger LBs like Will Johnson usurp him at times and combined with Alan Tisdale potentially sliding to mike LB with Keli Lawson seizing the will LB spot at the end of the season, Artis' hopes of regularly starting for the Hokies seemed faint.
There's no doubt in my mind though that Artis will be a popular LB target for G5 and FCS schools given the loads of experience he has.
We will have more as this story develops.
