Last August, athletic director Whit Babcock’s presentation to the Board of Visitors listed the operating expenses for men’s basketball as $9.7 million, well below the ACC peer average of $13.3 million, good enough for 14th in the league and last among public institutions. This shortfall doesn’t account for NIL and revenue sharing in which, presumably, the Hokies are also behind their peers.
