The lone result of the week went in the Hokies’ favor as they improved to 4-0 on the season with a 64-57 victory over the VMI Keydets.
An impressive six teams from the ACC were listed in Week 3’s edition of the AP Poll, with the highest vote-getter being the #10 Duke Blue Devils, who dropped four spots after last week’s loss at home to Michigan State.
It’s the Hokies that come next at #15 followed by the #16 North Carolina Tar Heels, who were runners-up at the Camping World Maui Invitational to the Texas Longhorns.
Up next are the #18 Virginia Cavaliers who slid three spots following their performances this past week while the #20 Florida State Seminoles improved two spots from last week. Lastly, making their first appearance of the season are the #25 Louisville Cardinals who have started 2020-21 with a perfect 4-0 record.
Although improving their record, the Hokies did take a dip in KenPom rankings as they fell four spots from the #22 position to #26; this puts them as the sixth best ACC KenPom ranking following Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida State, and Louisville.
The Hokies have yet again a quiet week of action as their lone matchup will come against the Penn State Nittany Lions as part of the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Tip-off will be at 9 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum on ESPNU.
