After a wave of incoming players to the program, Virginia Tech had one of their own enter the transfer portal in Isaiah Spencer.
The 6’2”, 196-pound WR transferred to Virginia Tech last offseason from Jackson State. In his time in Blacksburg, he caught 19 passes for 194 yards. Spencer also found time as a returner on the back end of the season. As a punt returner, he returned 12 punts for 88 yards, while on kickoff, he only had two returns for 29 yards.
In his two years at Jackson State, Isaiah Spencer had 59 catches for 861 yards and five touchdowns.
Isaiah Spencer is now the fourth wide receiver to enter the transfer portal, and the third to do so after the season. Given the influx of transfer receivers in Jeff Exinor Jr., Que’Sean Brown, and Marlion Jackson along with the depth of returning WRs, attrition was expected, and Isaiah Spencer most likely would have fell in the rotation.
A native of Madison, Mississippi, Jackson will have one year left of eligibility, and has already committed to play at Ole Miss.
