After reports emerged Monday that Greek star Neoklis Avdalas had committed to Virginia Tech if he chose to go the college route, the Greek standout has now withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft as reported by ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Avdalas is now the headline addition for the Hokies this offseason and is arguably the most talented incoming freshman VT has landed since at least signing Nickeil Alexander-Walker. He was previously projected as a second round draft pick for this year's NBA Draft, with many believing he could be a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Avdalas had a very good season in the Greek League, especially for someone who turned 19 just this past February, as he averaged 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 19.2 minutes per game while shooting 45.1% from the field including 40.7% from three-point range.

He also was impressive at the NBA Draft Combine which boosted his draft stock further, though not high enough to convince him to stay in this year's NBA Draft.

Avdalas immediately projects as a starter on the wing for the Hokies who absolutely has all-conference upside. He seems like a perfect as a talented shooter who can also handle the ball and provide lots of versatility. He also brings significantly above average length on the wing at 6'8'' that can be valuable on both ends of the court as he develops further.

Avdalas' addition sets the scale for a fascinating competition at the other spot on the wing between Tyler Johnson, Jaden Schutt, and UNLV transfer Jailen Bedford.

With Avdalas seemingly set to come on board, the Hokies are most likely done unless they can find the right fit to add backcourt depth for a relatively cheap option, something that simply may not be available at this point.
