Flip season has continued on Early Signing Day is Blacksburg as three-star LB John-Patrick Oates out of Pennsylvania flipped his commitment from JMU to Virginia Tech.
Oates is now the 14th new commit for the Hokies and the fifth who wasn't previously committed to Penn State (4* OT Thomas Wilder, 3* OT Maddox Cochrane, 3* DL Garret Witherington 3* DL T-Ron Richardson).

While many recruiting sites currently have Oates listed as a tight end, Virginia Tech announced him as a linebacker upon his signing with the Hokies this morning.
