Tuesday has proven to be another strong recruiting day for James Franklin and the Hokies as they landed a commitment from three-star DL T-Ron Richardson out of Richmond.

The 6'5'', 290-pound Richardson is now the 12th new commit for James Franklin and the fourth new commit who was not committed to Penn State previously. His commitment comes days after he visited VT and one day after he decommitted from Oklahoma.

He agives VT four aggregate top 15 in-state recruits for this class along with four-star OT Thomas Wilder, four-star WR Davion Brown, and three-star LB Mathieu Lamah.

Here is the rundown on all the new commits for the Hokies, eight of whom were at one time committed to Penn State during this recruiting cycle.

Wilder, Cochrane, Witherington, and Richardson are the four who were not previously committed to Franklin at Penn State at one point. Wilder was a former VT commit who had decommitted after Brent Pry's dismissal, Cochrane had decommitted from Wisconsin a couple weeks before choosing VT, Witherington was a direct flip from Kentucky to the Hokies, and Richardson decommitted from Oklahoma and committed to VT one day later.

Richardson is arguably the most impressive flip for the Hokies as the first recruit committed to a program that not only did not fire their coach but is set to reach the playoff this season. For Franklin to arrive and within two weeks pull off this flip is very impressive. It does help that Richardson had lots of familiarity with VT and almost picked the Hokies back in the summer too.

It's also a continuation of Franklin's focus on the trenches in the transfer portal with seven new offensive and defensive line commits since his arrival.
