Wide receiver Christian Moss has left the Virginia Tech Football team as head coach Brent Pry told Tech Sideline's Andy Bitter.
Strike one more player from the #Hokies roster: WR Christian Moss won’t be back.

Virginia Tech’s sitting at 82 scholarships right now, with three to play with in the transfer portal.
Will have more from a sitdown with Brent Pry in a little bit.
It seems reasonable to expect that Christian Moss will be entering the transfer portal (and likely already has submitted to enter given the Sunday deadline) though far from a certainty per Bitter.
Moss redshirted in 2021 before playing in 6 games this past season most prominently against Wofford where he had 5 catches for 50 yards exciting fans about his potential. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Moss joins the following scholarship Hokies who left the VT football team either during or after spring practice, most of whom entered the transfer portal.
- RB Kenji Christian
- LB J.R. Walker
- CB Elijah Howard
- QB Tahj Bullock
- QB Devin Farrell
- WR Dallan Wright
- DE Kyree Moyston
- DB Jalen Hoyle
- CB Cam Johnson
Moss' departure is a minor surprise given some of the promise he has shown in limited reps on the field and with some of the talk about his potential from coaches.
However, Moss was never able to find the consistency he needed and with all the additions that Tech has made from the portal and the high school ranks, Moss started to fall down Tech's WR depth chart. The growth of returnees like Stephen Gosnell and Tucker Holloway also likely had an impact. WR churn also shouldn't be a surprise given the large numbers in that room.
With Moss' departure, the Hokies are at 82 scholarships though if Zeke Wimbush arrives this summer and is immediately on scholarship, that would put Tech at 83. This does not change the fact that Tech isn't expected to add a WR during this spring transfer portal cycle.
