Virginia Tech's tremendous recruiting run under James Franklin has continued as three-star ATH Tyrell Grant Jr out of the 757 has flipped his commitment from Syracuse to Virginia Tech.
3He is the 16th new commit for the Hokies since the arrival of James Franklin and the thIRd flip of Early Signing Day for the Hokies along with four-star LB Terry Wiggins (Penn State) and three-star LB John-Patrick Oates (JMU). Virginia Tech is recruiting Grant as an athlete who could play defensive back or wide receiver. Syracuse previously was recruiting Grant to be a safety while other smaller schools had recruited Grant to play quarterback.

Grant's commitment to Virginia Tech comes after he visited Blacksburg each of the past two weeks. Despite that, it seemed like Syracuse was set to hold onto him after Grant put on a post on X reaffirming his commitment to Syracuse yesterday. However, the Hokies were able to get the jo done and get him across the finish line to complete the flip.
