2024-25 Virginia Tech Football Transfer Portal Hub

Transfer portal season has arrived with Virginia Tech set to be busy as most teams will be. It's a new era of sorts with the House Settlement looming which changes the roster dynamics from 120 total players with only 85 scholarship spots to 105 roster spots, all of which can be scholarship players.

So this year, I will be working off of that 105 number rather than the 85 number as we have done in the past. That means I will be keeping an eye on not only scholarship departures but also walk-on departures since all of them are in the same bucket now.

This is a reminder that there will be lots of transfers who Virginia Tech offers who will not report that offer, with most of those usually being guys who went through the process of being recruited by Power 4 programs previously. Visit schedules will also change quickly as the portal moves at lightning speed in terms of visits and commitments.

Tech will certainly be busy as though they ended up at 123 to start when including all high school commitments. I anticipate that they will end up having around 15-20 spots for transfer additions at minimum but that is somewhat of a guess work given the shuffling out set to happen with walk-ons.

Thank you Tim! Love your site and articles!

We seem to only be offering non Power 4 guys. What are your thoughts on this?

Tim ThomasRusty Wylie

Most Power 4 guys who are staying in the Power 4 dont usually report their offers while G5 and FCS guys are more apt to do so from what Ive seen. Those P4 guys are ready for a lower profile recruitment while the G5 and FCS guys tend to enjoy some parts about this a little more after not getting that chance in HS as much
